You can combat low blood sugar in the morning by eating a snack right before bed, if you wake up during the night, and/or as soon as you wake up in the morning.
Acid Reflux or Indigestion
If you suffer from acid reflux or indigestion it can be the cause of your nausea in the morning. This can be triggered by eating a meal too late and then lying down and sleeping before your meal has time to digest. You can combat this by taking acid reflux medication and/or eating early enough that you meal is digested before bed.
Anxiety or Depression
Anxiety and/or depression is another common cause of feeling sick to your stomach in the morning. After waking up you may feel nervous about the day and will start feeling anxious or upset which will put stress on your digestive system. This alone can cause illness in the morning, but it can be exaggerated if you have low blood pressure or acid reflux.
Food Intolerances
As you age your body adjusts and you may not be able to digest certain foods as easily. People who eat dairy products every morning for breakfast can start becoming lactose intolerant causing them to feel sick to their stomach after eating. If you routinely eat the same meal and feel ill, try changing your diet to see if you have developed any food intolerances.
